Do they have a physical address?
If you called a garage door repair company based on a business card that was left under a windshield wiper- make sure to research them. Does the company have a brick-and-mortar address?

Companies that have low turnover and technicians that have years of experience are a far better bet. On the other hand, if a company has very high turnover and their workers are inexperienced, you may run into some problems.
